Life After SPM

"is so exciting!" That must me what you think I'd might say. But no.

It's pretty boring.

Following from my previous post, well, there isn't much said for the other papers for SPM. I did okay I guess. Then I went to 'Playing Mode'.

My 'Playing Mode' has been on for quite some time already. I'd love to enter college immediately, but unfortunately, I am selected to enter National Service. Not that I am afraid of it, but I don't think i want to enter it after studying in college. I would already be rather old by that time. Okay... not that old. But still. I don't think I would be in a mood to go there after studying.

Therefore, my plan is to enter National Service first and then proceed on to studying in college. Problem is, I do not know when I am supposed to go for National Service. But anyways, I decided to look for a part-time job.

So far I've failed. Maybe I was too fussy for not choosing restaurants and T-shirt outlets. Those that I've asked said they would contact me, but they never did so. There was one though, but I could only work on the weekends. Oh well, the moment when I decided to ask the other shops too, I fell sick.

Hopefully, I will find a job after I am well.

So you must be wondering, what have I been doing these past few weeks right? I can't say much actually. Most likely you'll see me using the computer to play video games. I decided to play one of my old time favorite, MDK.

I must say, for a game that is released 13 years ago, it has some really good graphics. I remember my jaws dropped when I first played this game. The term MDK would actually mean 'Murder, death, kill'. And yes, you run, jump, slide, skateboard, parachute, and fall. Doing all of this, while shooting robots and aliens. It had a sequel to it, but gosh, it was totally different. The characters look like total amateurs.

Besides that? Well, I picked up drawing again as well. I haven't been drawing for months, and I'm glad I found the joy in drawing again. I get so into it I could even draw for hours. You could work wonders with a pencil and a paper you know.

SPM

Well, the finally awaited days are here.

It was a long journey, but after two long years, it has finally reached it's peak. And very soon, I'll be at the top of it. Let's take a look at how I did my papers all right?

The first day of SPM. Also the first day with the papers of the most important language of the country. That is, Bahasa Melayu.

Okay, enough with the exaggerating.

BM paper 1 - It was all right. We had to write about having a healthy lifestyle. Then we get to pick 1 of the 6 choices and I picked the one with the responsibilities of children towards parents. Not bad I'd say. But it wasn't exactly excellent also.

BM paper 2 - This is usually the paper where I lose my marks. The reason why I could only get a C or B. But surprisingly, the paper was easier compared to the previous years. You have to construct sentences from words like 'harga, menghargai, and penghargaan'. Not only that, they asked you to do questions. E.g : 'That boy's name is Tim.' You will have to write it in a question saying 'What is that boy's name?'

I felt like I was in kindergarten. But, I was also overjoyed when I left the classroom.

As for the arts theory paper, I had no idea what are they asking about. So, I took out my twin desert eagles and started shooting.

Now, I kinda regretted for not studying arts enough. Because now I don't think I could get an A for arts. Maybe a B. Oh well...

Next would be English! Yay!

English paper 1 - Now, this paper is pretty fun. First essay requires you to write a letter to a friend about the benefits of going National Service. Pretty normal. Next, I chose to write about a story starting with "It had been raining all day..." So I decided to write about a fairy tail. It's about a warrior going to save a princess in the castle guarded by a dragon. Except I changed it to a fire demon. I made it different compared to normal. The ending was also stupid. The demon drowned.

I think I messed up on the past tense and present tense. Shucks.

English paper 2 - Hmm... I don't have much to say for this one. I answered everything, but, there's just no way to know if they're correct. But, since its English, I'm confident I'll get an A.

After the English papers, it was the History papers. And, I was scared to my bones.

Sejarah paper 1 - This paper was okay. There were a total of 40 questions. Wasn't exactly confident, but when Cheng Ching gave me the correct answers to them, I found out that I've gotten 29/40! I tell you, I was overjoyed.

Sejarah paper 2 - Then came this hard part. Now this paper wasn't exactly that great. I was able to do most of the subjective questions. But for the essay question, I only knew a lot about one question. The other two, well, I could only use my creativity to write them. So uhh, I think I'll get a C or B.

Then I was done for one week. The week after that started with Maths paper.

Maths paper 1 - This paper was pretty hard. I do not have enough time to finish it. Nor to check it also. I guess I'm able to get like half paper correct.

Maths paper 2 - In compensation for paper 1, this paper was really easy. I answered everything. Yes, I mean everything. I know how to do every question. I could get full marks for the paper, should there be no mistakes.

Moral paper - The night before I took the Moral paper, I stayed up to memorize every single moral values. And it proved worthwhile. I used them all up during the Moral paper, and I must say, I did pretty well.

Then it was Science's turn.

Science paper 1 - This paper was really easy. I could get 40/50 questions correct in this one.

Science paper 2 - This paper too was easy! Maybe too easy. Or my year is just really lucky. I managed to answer well for the subjective questions. The essay questions were a little hard.

Well, then that's it! These are the papers that I've done so far. The next paper I have will be two weeks after this, that's why I'm able to blog here. Hopefully, my results will come out as A and B. As long as they're A and B, I'll be satisfied.

Do wish me the best.

My Computer Crashed Again!

It's like OMG! So stupid... Cannot tahan man...

For your information, I am currently using a Windows XP laptop. Why? Because I do not have enough money to afford a new one. It is an ancient computer that could hardly play any games. It can even lag while playing Gameboy Advance games. So, yeah, you get the picture. It's freaking old!

In the end... Have to go and repair again, because I do need to check my e-mails everyday. But nevermind repairing it, I lost all my files... Which means I lost all my songs! Haiyo... Now I lazy to download back already. So conclusion is I got pretty much nothing on my computer.

I just can't wait to get off SPM and work and get some money... To buy myself a new COMPUTER! Then I'll be able to play all the games I finally want to... *drools*

Alright, change topic. What did I do today? Today I went to SMK Sri Aman all-girls school. Yay! A teenage guy's dream come true. The place to get to know more smart and pretty girls.
NOT!

I'm just there for an ECO carnival that they have. The Green Ambassadors of our school, around 20-30 people went there together, and I was part of it. There were some stalls selling food and drinks... Saying things like "There's greenhouse gases and global warming, right? Come here to refresh yourself!" I remember one guy said: "It's really hot man!" Then I said: "Yeah. Must be the girls." I laughed out heartily.

They also showed us some solar stuff, like a solar bike, and some other interesting stuff. We also listened to a seminar talking about plastic bags. Some dumpsite that is 300 feet deep full of plastic bags with the size of west and east Malaysia I think. So you could imagine it is very huge.

I also learned to do the origami fish, because there are different ways to reuse paper. Then that's pretty much it, we left the place and head back to school. I stayed back and attended Bible Knowledge class. Walked back and reached home around 6.30pm. Yet I still have to prepare dinner. Tiring man... (Although it's just heating up food) Then I went out again with my family... Came back... And here I am. So tired I can never manage to study. Hmm... Yet I could still sit at the computer, I wonder why? Something for me to ponder on, I guess.

Paramore's Concert, Here I Come!

Yup you got that right. I'm going for Paramore's concert! Man am I excited! WOO HOOOOO!!

Now you must be saying: "Aren't you going to take SPM this year? You should be studying!" Well, I must say, that it is only for one night. Also, this may be the only chance I'll ever get to go for Paramore's concert! So, let's just say that this concert, is The Only Exception. Hehe.

It will be on the 19th October, at 7pm. And guess what? I'm going for free! What? You didn't hear that clearly? I said... I'M GOING FOR FREE!!

That is some seriously priceless experience. Yeah baby. A million thanks to my best friend. I'm so gonna headbang throughout the night. Bad news is, it is free sitting. So I'll be there hours earlier to get in front. So... wish me luck, that I won't faint from lining up and waiting for Paramore to come out.

It doesn't matter how long I wait because, when Paramore comes to the stage, man am I going to ROCK!

Its Time to Get Serious...

Yes. I, Brian Tan, is going to start getting serious in life. Seriously. There are work that needs to be done. And no one, NO ONE, is going to stop me. So long as the sun, the earth, and the moon exists, nothing will be able come between me and...

STUDYING

Speaking of which, I think I'm going crazy without video games.

Well, I have approximately 43 days till the first day of SPM. I think it is a good amount of time for me to study. This would be my very last chance to change the outcome of the future. Well, I could not really do anything now without my video games... So I'll be doing stuff like reading Pride and Prejudice, a classic.

If not for that, then I'll just watch some of my favorite films again.

But now, it is the time to get serious. Right?

A Time For Everything

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

As for me, it is a time to tear down and a time to build. Why? Because my computer has been infected by viruses...

After my trip to the Cameron Highlands, I found out my computer was really slowing down. But I did not give it much thought. Not too long after that, my computer couldn't get the internet. Which brought my whole world down, haha. It does not matter how hard I try, because it was too late. My anti-virus even stopped working. I could practically do nothing with the computer. So I decided to fry my computer and make it new again. To destroy and recreate.

That was probably the reason why I haven't been posting here in my blog. I don't like to use other people's computers to do stuff. But... I had a problem. My exam trials were just around the corner, and I cannot afford to take up the challenge without getting ready myself. So I studied... while fooling around too.

Strangely, I could watch shows before and after I studied, while sacrificing my sleeping time. As compensation for studying I guess. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Let's see, I watched four Resident Evil movies...

Yesh, I love zombies. Zombies zombies zombies zombies zombies zombies zombies. I haven't watch Afterlife yet though, Its 18+ in cinemas. Boo... Must be the blood and violence. Aiya, I've seen worse man.

Hmm... I've also watched the series of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Is the show old?
Yes. 15 years ago.

Is it funny?
Occasionally, at times.

Is the plot good?
Sure.

Is it weird?
Yes, it is.

Is it exciting?
Of course.

Did you enjoy the show?
Definitely!

I do have some criticism for it though. The animators keep re-using the same scenes again and again. Although they changed the voice, etc, you will still say 'Hey, I remember that scene!' along the show. Secondly, the animators made some extremely long stop scenes. Example would be when two characters are in a moving elevator. They weren't talking. I was looking at the same picture of them of like, what, one minute? At one point I thought the computer hanged.

But it is unique compared to other robot shows. Apparently, the mobile suits in this show needs an electric cable connected to their backs. Lest they run out of power. The robots could last 5 minutes without the cable. Good thing is, it creates excitement and tension when the enemy cuts off the cable.

Well, back to the normal story. Right now, I have a short break before my last trial paper, so I asked Min Chen for his help. He was really helpful. My computer is now 100% clean from viruses. Now I no longer have to sneak away my brother's laptop at night. But, I must say, it did take away my dependance on the computer. Because I read instead of using the computer. Although its novels and not textbooks.

I also believe it is a time for me to study. Then later on there will be a time for me to play. My high school days are soon to be gone. Might as well enjoy it the best as I can, right?

17th Birthday

So, on the 2nd September 2010 is my 17th birthday. Let's just take a look at what I have done alright?

First! I woke up for school. I forgotten it was my birthday until I took my bath, because I was thinking about Wei Wei's birthday outing.
Then I cooked my breakfast. Burger egg sandwich with a cup of hot Milo. Yum. No cockroach spotted in the kitchen, yay.
Next I went to school.
The moment I first stepped past the school gate, there was already a person wishing me happy birthday. Hmm, did I really stand out?
I went to my usual sitting place and saw my friends. Min Chen and Cheng Ching wished me.
Went to class as usual. Nothing special.
Went to recess because Michelle said she was going to share her food with me. Or else I'd be going to the library with Adrissa.
I sat down with my friends. Then they suddenly brought me a cake from Secret Recipe. They sang me a happy birthday song. Loudly. I think En. Zahir was passing by, hehe. I felt embarrassed because everyone in the canteen was looking. Wasn't I the only one whom they sang happy birthday in the canteen?
After recess, I went back to my class...
And then they the whole class sang for me another happy birthday song... What the heck... Felt more embarrassed...
Well, that pretty much ended my celebration from other people.

I never really liked people singing for me happy birthday songs. If you would just come up to me and wish me, that would be much better. After that, I helped designed the table in APD room in school. Pretty tiring. Then I went to study for a while, in the library. Then I walked back home.

By the time I reached home I was dead tired. I used my computer a little, and soon, I was sleeping already. Well, I did receive some presents.

I received chocolates.

I received a fantasy novel.

It continues in two other books though. But what the heck, I love adventures!
I also received some bookmarks and souvenirs. Unfortunately, I don't have a camera to show them. But, the souvenirs looked something like this...

Without the pitchfork and wings of course.

Well, that's pretty much all I could think of. It wasn't exactly an extremely happy day, I seldom look forward to my birthdays anyway. Overall, it was a day for me to receive gifts.
